The renewal of the contract of Philippe Mexes until 30 June 2016 is creating some embarrassment at home Milan. The 33 year-old French defender, wearing the Rossoneri in 2011, has never entirely convinced: some good performances, in fact, has always alternated sudden blackout and showed heavy limitations of character that often took him to the field to attitudes out of line ( see the aggression in Mauri in Lazio-Milan last January 24 that cost him his four-game ban). With the landing of Sinisa Mihajlovic on the bench it seemed that the adventure of Milan’s Mexes had come to an end.
According to reports in recent days, in fact, the Serbian coach was not entirely convinced, not so much of technical quality of the player, because of its clarity and the estate nervosa. The departure of the French, then, seemed a foregone conclusion. Instead, suddenly, yesterday Milan have announced the renewal of a year of the former Roma defender. A decision which, it turns out, would be taken directly by the president Silvio Berlusconi, was pleasantly surprised by the determination shown by the player during last season. The case Mexes can therefore be considered as the first friction between Berlusconi and Mihajlovic, the former coach of Sampdoria who was being forced to accept a decision imposed on him from above. The president, in fact, would call personally to Miha asking confirmation of the player.
It ‘also true, moreover, that the decision of the Milan reconfirm Mexes is logical from a technical standpoint and can also it is seen as a precaution in case the negotiations with Rome to purchase Romagnoli fails. When the Rossoneri in pink has five central defenders Alex, Paletta, Ely, Zapata and, in fact, Mexes. With Alex departing and Ely Apply, French is considered the classic player of experience on which to rely. In spite of everything.
