MELBOURNE – The world of F1 starts with one of the best races ever, full of twists and – above all – a Ferrari-Mercedes fierce head to head. In the end the result does not give justice to the news: Mercedes-two, victory Rosberg, followed by Hamilton and Vettel only third. It seems the usual race last year but no.
THE CHRONICLE OF THE RACE AROUND TOUR
The race was indeed a duel between the Reds and the silver arrows from start to finish. “Start” in the true sense of the word because the two Ferrari have taken an early lead, making the fans dream. Hamilton fact, went badly, sinking in the rear where it is not riesciuto to pass a Toro Rosso. At that point, Rosberg was third but was unable to keep pace with the two Ferraris. Fans of Maranello begin to dream. Then the terrible accident of Alonso – sensa consequences – stop the game. Red flag. The Mercedes strategy change, choose one with a stop in less and eventually make bingo: brace.
The castling – THE COMMENT from our correspondent Marco Mensura
And to think that the more aggressive strategy of Ferrari at the end could still give great satisfaction: Vettel arrived with fresher tires in the closing laps. But by then it was only the third, at most he could beat Hamilton and soffiargli second place, nothing more. Operation then wrecked by a mistake of the German under braking.
Fourth position for the home hero Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull that preceded the Williams of Massa and Grosjean Haas. Seventh Hulkenberg’s Force India ahead of the other Bottas Williams and Toro Rosso Sainz Junior. Close the top ten the other Toro Rosso Verstappen who preceded Palmer Renault.
BLOG, have your say
But the Australian GP 2016 will go down history for the terrible accident Alonso, escaped unhurt from a machine reduced to a pulp: on lap 18 Fernando spurs in his right front tire of the left rear of Gutierrez Haas (looks for a sudden slowdown, Gutierrez at that time had the electronic steering wheel all dark ) and his McLaren off. In flight tips and then – all at 200 per hour – it crashed sullle barriers going into a thousand pieces. The Spaniard comes out unscathed from his completely destroyed car. Thrilling images but which demonstrate how the safety cell carbon of F1 is able to do its job.
Other
twist then arrival to Raikkonen box: from the socket engine air, the one above the driver’s head, flames appear long, off-the-fly by a mechanic. Too bad, Kimi was doing a really good race.
In any case, flames or no, Ferrari flies. And the GP of Australia has been shown to have a macchima much faster in the race than in testing. This year the championship promises to be much more fought. And not just in the lead: the Haas with the incredible sixth place has proven to be a competitive team right away. Same thing for Toro Rosso, Renault and the rookie for the legendary Red Bull for the exits of the tunnel. The battle is in fact open.
