Tragic Gent-Welvegem: Belgian Demoitié dies run over by a motorbike – Il Sole 24 Ore

Mourning in Belgium at Gent-Wewelgem, one of North classic cycling. The 25 year old Belgian rider Antoine Demoitié, the Wanty-Groupe Gobert team, died hit by a motorcycle after falling during yesterday’s race.

Demoitié had fallen along with four other riders in Sainte-Marie-Cappel, during the short passage of the cycling race in France, and has been invested. Initially taken to hospital in Ypres, West Flanders, he was then quickly transferred to the University Hospital intensive care unit of Lille, in France, because of the seriousness of his condition. Born in Liège on 16 October 1990 Demoitié militated currently in Wanty-Groupe Gobert team after three years with the Wallonie-Bruxelles Group Protect. In 2014 he won the Tour du Finistère, the seventh round of the French Cup.
