One or two-match ban. Sarri, no discrimination – La Gazzetta dello Sport

The disciplinary situation of Sarri, the coach of Napoli who addressed his colleague Mancini calling him “fagot”, really should not as heavy as it looked at first. Tomorrow it is likely that the decision of the sports justice does not in fact qualify the incident as an example of homophobic discrimination, but as a general offense, punishable therefore with one or two-match ban. Not technically impossible (but remains the least likely hypothesis), however, that the Tuscan coach is contested the discriminatory behavior and, with it, a ban that could reach 4 months (plus a mule between 10 and 30 thousand Euros) .

There is a prime example that explains the high probability of the first hypothesis: as a curve is closed only when racist epithets are directed against black players, so being the externalization of Sarri facing Mancini notoriously heterosexual, the episode is classified as racist, but merely offensive.

the first scenario – In the morning however there was talk of sanctions much heavier , those calculated under the rules of the Italian Football Federation, which punish a cardholder with at least 4 months on the sidelines “discriminatory behavior and any offense involving conduct based on sex”. The temporary suspension should be granted in the league and in the Europa League because the Uefa implements sanctions. Tomorrow is the judgment: the sports court Tosel could also opt for a stop of three days or more will assess whether those phrases as “prejudicial statements”, governed by Article 5 of Noif (Internal Organizational Rules) and not “discriminatory”. For statements detrimental could be disqualified even the same Mancini, according to allegations made by Sarri that at a press conference reported insults addressed to him by the coach of Inter .

standard – Here is the text of Article 11 of Noif: “It is discriminatory behavior , punishable as a disciplinary offense, any conduct that, directly or indirectly, causes offense, denigration or insult on grounds of race, color, religion, language, sex, nationality, ethnic origin, or constitutes ideological propaganda prohibited by law or otherwise praising behavior discriminatory. The leaders, the members of society, members and non-members under art. 1-bis, paragraph 5 who commit a breach of paragraph 1 shall be punished with the inhibition or disqualification of at least four months or, in severe cases, even with the penalty provided for by the letter g) of art. 19, paragraph 1 (ie the DASP, editor’s note), as well as for the professional sector, with a fine of € 15,000.00 to € 30,000.00. “The players, for the same violation, in addition to time may be disqualified sanctioned with a stop of ten days (which at that point would be granted only in the competition in which it was committed and in this case the Italian Cup), but a coach is generally equated to a licensee and not a footballer.

the setting – Crucial will be the referee report: the race director Valeri Rome was not present at the time of the dispute, but the fourth man, as was evident from the TV images and as reported by the same Mancini, he has heard it all. If you were to bring insults Sarri as were reported by the coach of Inter ( “It gave me the fag and fagot” ), it is then up to the judge Tosel sports whether it’s discriminatory conduct. Certainly it will get a court battle: considering mitigating voltage for the endgame, the court could interpret the phrases Sarri no real intention to insult discriminatory. If those sentences were to be declassified to “statements detrimental,” Sarri could get away with a disqualification of three days, in that case to be served only in the Italian Cup.

Europe – You can then a further investigation of federal prosecutors who already felt Mancini and probably start an investigation that could lead to referral of palaces and a second disqualification if the first does not contain all the evidence gathered . In any case, federal prosecutors can directly write to Tosel expanding the report of the referee and then make sure that the time is immediate disqualification. Incidentally Napoli plays in the Europa League and a similar situation does prick up their antennas also Uefa. In short, it will be certainly a story that will drag on for a bit ‘of judgments and appeals. And in theory Sarri could not come back on the bench until the end of the season.
